It was a warm Arizona day and what better place to be to capture two people in love but at Mummy Mountain! The desolate little Southwest Town was the perfect backdrop for the three of us to meander and get some amazing photos of these two. I love love love their story and so I'll let Jamie share her rendition of how they got engaged... Colby, way to go on including the family *and* having the cameras there to capture it! So great!

It was December 22nd and I had just gotten back to Arizona from finishing a a hard semester and week of finals. I was extremely lucky because I came home to Colby setting up an entire day of being pampered- I got a massage, a manicure and pedicure, and he turned on my favorite Christmas movie (Love Actually). He told me he set up dinner reservations as well, but he wouldn't tell me where we were going, just that I had to be ready by 5:30pm. Side note: I'm obsessed with Michael Buble's Christmas album so I had been asking him all day to play it. At 5:30, I finished getting ready and came out to the main area of the house to hear my favorite Christmas song- "All I want for Christmas is You" by Michael Buble, as we began to leave the house I noticed on the christmas tree a new ornament that pictured Colby, myself, and our two dogs on it with the date and a cute quote about it being our first Christmas together as a family.. as I turned around excited about how much I loved it, Colby was down on his knee. After he proposed and I of course said yes, both of our families showed up a few minutes later with champagne (he also had 3 different video cameras set up taping the entire moment!). After a few hours of celebrating with everyone, we continued the night filled with love and celebration at the Melting Pot. I was extremely surprised because I was not expecting him to propose to me in that moment, especially because he always said that if he were to propose to me it would be in front of everybody, which I always said I didn't want. We had gone ring shopping around Thanksgiving so I "hoped" it would be Christmas morning so he took me by surprise asking me 3 days before!- Jamie
"Jamie is my best friend and my companion in life. There isn't one thing in particular that I'm looking forward to more than just experiencing life with her. I'm looking forward to laughing until it hurts, making the most mundane activities (road trips) exciting and adventurous, and traveling the world together. I am happy to share my life with someone who is lighthearted and easy going who shares my passion for good food, good drink, and good times." - Colby
"We dated for a year and a half in high school and then split up for almost 3 years.. when we connected again and began dating again I knew almost immediately that I was going to marry him. We began dating in a long distance relationship and it was worth it because I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with him." Jamie
I know exactly when I fell in love with her and knew that it was the real thing. My birthday was the first major event we had in our relationship where she was around family as my girlfriend. Birthday's in my family are always a party. All my brothers and their significant others were over at my parents house, and my dad grilled up a massive surf and turf feast. He had grilled up filet mignons and lobster tails, potatoes, corn, and every side you can think of. We were all eating out in the backyard at a banquet table. The food was so good we had to go for seconds, and maybe even thirds. Somewhere around the time my parents brought out the cake and ice cream, Jamie got faced with the biggest challenge of our relationship thus far, and probably since. In the middle of this massive family meal, her dress completely splits down the side and falls down. She was stunned for a second, but then just started making jokes about the whole situation and laughing it off. My mom took her inside and got her closed up with the help of some safety pins, but I knew right then and there that I was in love with her. To be able to face a situation like that and laugh about it, and not let it ruin her night and all the good times we were having, I knew right then and there that she was the one for me.

What amazing stories! It is obvious these two were meant for each other. He is quite the romantic person...love all of the considerate things he did for her, AND truly loved the unexpected proposal! Sounds like they are both close to their families; also I loved the 3 videos he set up to capture this beautiful day. Jenn, once again, your photos are spectacular!! One of my favorite is with the green foliage in the background, the orange mums(?) in the foreground, and her coral (hot pink?) dress. They are a lovely couple & I believe they will have a most perfect marriage.
