David + Cathy | Wedding!

Cathy sat back, sipping on some wine casually and chatting with her girls in the bridal suite as her stylist lined her eyes, plumped her lips and added volume to her already gorgeous hair. She was completely cool, calm and collected. Meanwhile, David along with the groomsmen downstairs shot some pool, ate quesadillas and goofed around to 80's jams in the basement. David was full of energy and admitted he was a little nervous.

You could tell any jitters he had before the wedding dissolved as soon as he saw Cathy walk down that aisle towards him. His face dissolved into a assured smile; knowing these two, I can't help but think that this cool and collected woman makes this man whole. You could feel the excitement between them as the stood together, made their vows and said I do to a life together.

Cathy and David, thank you so much for letting me capture you amazing family and this amazing day! You are both beautiful people and I count myself blessed to have been a part!

Cathy and David were  joined by their sweet litte daughter Ashlyn, who you will see in some of the photos below. This girl is a doll and knew how to ham it up for the camera!

Enjoy David and Cathy's wedding day, as told through photos...

Thank you Cathy and David!

Zach and Jody Workshop/ Working through a downpour!

I recently got to attend a workshop by Zach and Jody Gray and it was an *amazing* experience getting to see how other photographers work, how to get perfect white balance and working through a torrential downpour!  If you are considering attending a workshop this year, go to this one!!

I took the workshop in Phoenix, and despite our claim on great winter weather, it was a day full of unpredictable weather. I actually loved the craziness as we got to see Zach and Jody and how they would work on a day that is less than perfect and make it work with what they got! As a photographer, you have to be prepared to work through whatever comes your way!  We should have known we were in for it when it started hailing outside at about 11am.. but we kept going...

We ran outside when the weather cleared up to get some photos while we had some light. Here we got to implement the techniques that Zach and Jody had been teaching it. I love the hands on time and we could ask any questions right there and have Zach and Jody actually look on our cameras as we got our settings right and got the perfect shots.

We kept shooting, but the weather got even worse; it wasn't long before the wind and rain picked up. Umberellas were turned inside out, photographers ran in every direction to try and find shelter for their cameras and lenses! It was crazy...

But instead of calling it quits, we moved our session into a nearby parking garage and kept it going. Because we kept going, i actually ended up getting one of my favorite shots from the entire day; who would have thought a parking garage would create such awesome lines?  ( If you didn't know... this is Zach and Jody who are amazing wedding photographers from Nashville.) So blessed to learn from them!

Despite the weather, I learned a ton and got some fun shots. Check them out : )

Thanks to Zach and Jody for an amazing day full of growth, connection and awesome shots!

We all feel a little awkward sometimes.. but especially me.

This post goes out to all my awesome clients, who have braved the trials of standing in front of my camera and rock it!

You all have done a wonderful job and i just have to applaud your willingness to subject yourself to what can sometimes be an awkward situation. I mean come on, we aren't models! But somehow you guys pull it off... and way better than i ever could! So glad to have you guys!

So just to prove that i not only share in your suffering of feeling awkward, but make you guys look good, here are a few of mine : )

I mean... seriously...

I have no one but myself to blame.

Happy Friday!! And a BIG thank you to every one of my clients who pulls this off way better than I do!  You guys are the best!

Paul + Katelyn! Engagement Session!

You can't tell from her massive smile, but Katelyn actually had a massive sunburn when we had their photshoot. Luckily her and Paul are in love so the smiles came out as we trotted around Downtown Chandler the day before they headed back to Oklahoma.

Paul and Katelyn met at Oklahoma CHristian University during their freshman year! They graduate in the next few weeks and in May, they will be married here in Arizona. So excited for you two as you begin your life together! Thank you for letting me capture you big day!

Everything. Was. Perfect.

Everyone said it was cold, but I don't remember it. I was too hyped up on excitement and in love to notice something as petty as the weather.

It was my wedding day and my dad walked through the sand, both of us barefoot cause that was the only thing I really wanted for my day, was to walk, barefoot. through sand. We were approaching the natural sand hill  that had a perfectly placed aisle of soft smooth sand, and just on the other side, our of site was my wedding. Just before we got to the bottom of the hill, my dad stopped me, looked at me and said "everything you see when we walk over this hill is perfect, its exactly the way its supposed to be".

And he was right. Everything. was. perfect.

Two years ago today I married my husband, and it really was the best day of my life.
