Tempe Engagement Session, Tempe Arizona, Jake and Amber with Shannon

From the moment they arrived at Papago park in Tempe and stepped in front of the camera together with Shannon, it was nothing but sweet smiles and tons of love from Amber and Jacob. These two just light up when they are around each other and we cannot wait for their wedding next fall! Shannon our amazing associate shot the gorgeous session with them, and if its any indicator of their wedding, we can tell its going to be gorgeous! 

When we heard more about their story and the first time Amber realized she was in love, we got goosebumps! Their story is beautiful and we can't wait to help tell it as it continues to unfold!

"Jacob and I have an interesting story. We met over 7 years ago in Iowa through mutual friends. Over the years we stayed in contact and remained friends. It wasn't until 2.5 years ago, when Jacob lived in Arizona and I was still in Iowa, that our friendship changed. We started catching up one day, as we always had in the past, but something was different this time. We both felt it and quickly started talking and skyping non-stop. On a gut reaction I bought a plane ticket to Arizona for a visit. I already had that "I'm in love feeling" when I got to Arizona but when I truly knew was when I left to fly back to Iowa. Jake took me to the airport and as he drove away and I walked into the building I started to cry. And not just any cry, a tears running down my face, blubbering cry. I couldn't believe it because that wasn't like me and I just had the most amazing trip. At that moment a woman standing next to me said, "oh honey you must have left someone you love." And I turned to her and without even thinking said...yes, I am leaving the love of my life." - Amber

" My one favorite thing about Jake... that is so hard to decide! But I think it's his personality. He is the most outgoing, fun, animated, and loving guy. He's the guy everyone enjoys being around, including me ;) And honestly he never has a down or bad moment. He is always positive, can make anything fun, and will always make sure people are in a good mood. No matter what he ALWAYS puts a smile on my face or makes me laugh." - Amber 

"The ring was actually the easiest decision and consequently the most meaningful.  The ring was my grandmother's.  My aunt gave me the ring and wedding band to keep it in family.  Also because I think she likes Amber more than me. :-) " - Jake

"The first eight months of our relationship was spent long distance.  I lived in Arizona and Amber lived in Iowa.  We talked a lot over the phone and skyping and the more and more we talked it became harder and harder to not say "I love you" because she was everything I was looking for in a companion.  It happened on her first visit to Arizona." - Jake 

"One of my favorite things about  Amber, it may sound corny but it's the fact that she is my other half. There has been multiple times where we order the same things or say the same things without thinking.  We have also answered questions randomly the exact same way.  She is and always will be my better half." - Jake

"As I mentioned our first "date" was me coming to Arizona. So, our first kiss happened at Jake's apartment. We had dinner and drinks with Jake's roommate and the moment his roommate went to bed, Jake grabbed me, pulled me in tight, and kissed me." - Amber

 "I first told Jana that I lover her when we were about one year into our relationship. I was not first to say it, although the feelings were there. I had a dream, that I was telling Jana for the firs time "I love you." This was about one week before I told her. One night while we were sleeping, I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night. I couldn't hold it back any longer and I didn't want to. I turned over to face her, wrapped my arms around her and said, "I love you." The moment was perfect and her reaction was quite priceless... She opened her eyes and said, "Am I dreaming?" We shared a good laugh the next day! I am so glad I finally told her I love her because I look forward to saying those words for the rest of my life. " - Lee

"It was within the first month of dating Smedley that I knew I loved him. I remember getting home one night after going out to dinner together that I had that moment of realization. I loved him! It felt too soon to have such strong feelings but I couldn’t help but notice that I had fallen for him." - Jana

"It is impossible to just pick one of my favorite things that I love about Jana. I love everything about her! She is the kindest, sweetest person that I have ever met. She's always smiling and its impossible to not be happy when I am around her. She's my best friend and I cant imagine my life without her." - Lee

 "Our first kiss was very memorable for me. We had spent a good majority of the day together before we had to go our separate ways for the evening. I remember standing in the kitchen of his condo after he had given me a tour of his place and played a little melody for me on his guitar for the first time. Before parting for the evening, he leaned in and gave me a kiss. We were simply smitten for each other! The timing was perfect and it had a way of confirming our feelings for each other." Jana

We couldn't help but laugh along during the reception with everyone else as Andrew danced with his mom and they gave a dazzling rendition during their special dance to "Margaritaville"! It was so hilarious and everyone enjoyed it so much! Especially Andrew and his mom!! Love these special moments at weddings that make the day so unique! Nadine and Andrew, you guys are meant to be! Thank you for being the type of people that truly focus on the becoming of one! You guys are headed for a long and happy life together as Mr. and Mrs! We were so thankful to be there to capture your beautiful, quaint, colorful wedding!

"The best part of our wedding day was actually seeing Nadine for the first time
walking down the aisle. I kept hearing how beautiful and amazing Nadine looked from
several people during the day. I eventually got annoyed by everyone
else being able to see her when I wasn't. I often heard how great of a
moment this was for people, but I was really able to experience it for
myselft. It definitely was one of the most special times of the whole
wedding process. Seeing my beautiful bride coming down the aisle
looking perfect in her perfect dress (I think I made about every face
imaginable to keep from tearing up)." - Andrew

"I had several, if not many, favorite moments during my wedding day.  One in particular was the moment I was standing with my Dad in anticipation of walking down to aisle to Andrew. It was such a wonderful moment that I got to share with my Dad.  He asked if I was ready.  I said with full confidence “Yes.”  Walking down the aisle was a blur until I saw Andrew smiling back at me.  I had been waiting to marry this man for what felt like so long and that was the moment that it was finally happening. The two men I love most in my life, my Dad and Andrew, helped make this moment one of my absolute favorites." - Nadine

"The story I feel I repeat the most is just how much fun and how
perfect the whole day was. I tell everyone how great is was to be
surrounded by friends and family who loved us, and came hundreds of
miles to be with us. I also just tell everyone how perfect Nadine
looked, because she was stunning. After I bring these two up, I
usually ramble on about every other detail from the wedding until I
notice the person gets that "disinterested look" in ther face. All in
all, I don't think I could have asked for a more perfect day."

"I would say the
first few minutes after being proclaimed "Husband and Wife" would be
the next several minutes. It was like I was finally at ease and
relaxed. I can't remember a time when I was happier. It was truly a
great moment." Andrew

"I would love to re-live all the first dances; my dance with Nadine was the most fun. 

I loved looking into her eyes, talking to
her, and singing along together as we tore up the dance floor. I
almost forget what the words of the songs were because I was so lost
in the moment." Andrew

"I think the memory that pops out most vibrantly was going to cut the cake and having no knife to do so!  It’s funny that this is the memory that pops out so much because it’s so silly.  This is how I feel like life with Andrew is though, silly and a little unpredictable.  But that’s what makes life with him so much fun!" - Nadine

"P.S. I'd like to re-live our cake cutting, except this time with a
knife to cut the cake ;)..." Andrew
